We’ve always believed in the power of design to bring people together. At the same time, we know that good design never happens in a vacuum. It takes people with a broad range of talents and perspectives to create something beautiful and effective.

That’s why we take a holistic, integrated approach to our projects. It’s true there are great designers, architects, planners, developers and builders in every firm, but we’re confident few can bring it all together as well as Acadia Design + Development. Few can use this broad experience to enhance even the most specialized and focused of projects.

Everyone who is a part of the Acadia ecosystem — our partners, our clients, our team and the people in the communities where we build — shares an intuitive appreciation for the ways in which we partner and collaborate for long-term processes. Despite the demanding and complex work we do, we revel in our freedom and adaptability — inherently derived from our privileged control of all aspects of the design and execution process. Each and every day we make our decisions based on what we believe is right, without compromising our beliefs.

Our work is grounded in respect for structure, materials and their expression, allowing us to achieve clarity and movement to both a physical space and our work as a whole. Because of the fluid nature of our business, we serve as the owner, the architect, the developer and the general contractor, providing unique degrees of freedom that allow us to work from a shared vision.

Culture

The purpose of our business has always been guided by professionals who want to positively contribute to the built environment. Architecture has been the gateway for most of the office but we are an interdisciplinary partnership of diverse professionals including designers, developers and builders. We actively engage our peers and challenge our practice by teaching and lecturing. We pursue our own work in a fun and granular practice where the definition of value unique to each project is the ultimate aspiration.
